About Dr. Gabrielle Stutman

Dr. Stutman is a licensed psychologist with over 25 years of experience.  She specializes in clinical neuropsychology, cognitive remediation, and psychotherapy for children and adults.  Many years of training and experience as a psychoanalyst, hypnotherapist, and cognitive remediation therapist inform her neuropsychological examinations.  Thus, she is an astute diagnostician, who understands puzzling symptoms and provides sensible plans for their remediation.  She also does custody assessments for the New York City and Westchester County Family Courts, disability assessments for New York State Worker's Compensation, and forensic testimony.

After earning her MA in psychology from Yeshiva University and PhD in psychology from the New School University, Dr. Stutman's postdoctoral training has qualified her for Certificates in psychoanalytic psychotherapy from the Advanced Institute for Analytic Psychotherapy and the Psychoanalytic Center for Communicative Education.  She has also completed the program in Clinical Neuropsychology at Fielding University.

Dr. Stutman is not just a member of professional organizations.  She has been elected to leadership positions and received awards for them.  For instance, the Independent Practice Division of the New York State Psychological Association (NYSPA) has elected her to be its President three times, she is Founder of NYSPA's Forensic Division, she serves NYSPA on several statewide committees, and NYSPA has recognized her leadership by conferring a Distinguished Service Award.

In addition to writing articles in several professional publications and serving since 1989 as a Contributing Editor of the International Journal of Communicative Psychoanalysis, Dr. Stutman has extensive teaching and supervisory experience, from undergraduate through postgraduate levels.  Since 1990, she has been an Assistant Professor at Bronx Community College of the City University of New York.

Additional details are in her curriculum vitae.
